Kristy Love joined Chavez High School as a Grade Level Administrator following 9 years leading a middle and elementary school in the Houston Independent School District. At Codwell Elementary School, she served as the school’s fifth principal, following eleven years of service within the Houston Independent School District as a school administrator. Prior to this position, she served as Dean of Students at Woodson K-8 Leadership Academy and Assistant Principal at Burbank Middle School, where she pioneered the E.X.C.E.L. Academy to recognize and promote student achievement. Dr. Love started her teaching career as a science teacher at Hogg Middle School where she was Team Leader, Science Department Chair and awarded Teacher of the Year. Dr. Love has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Alcorn State University and a Masters in Educational Administration from Prairie View A & M University. She received her Doctorate of Education in Executive Educational Leadership at Houston Baptist University.

Dr. Elizabeth Castillo-Guajardo

Elizabeth Castillo-Guajardo is the Principal of JC Mitchell Elementary in Houston ISD. She has served as an Elementary Teacher, Reading Coach, Curriculum Specialist, and Assistant Principal. She holds certifications for ESL and Master Technology Teacher. She has been an ABYDOS trainer, Ruby Payne Trainer of Trainers, as well as Adjunct Professor at University of Texas at Brownsville for Master Technology Teacher certifications. Dr. Castillo-Guajardo currently serves as the National Council of Teachers of English Community Ambassador. She is a member of International Literacy Association, Texas Association of Literacy Educators, and is a TALE Special Interest Group Really Engage and Accept Diversity (R.E.AD.) committee member. She received her BA from Southwestern University and MA in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. She received her PhD in Leadership at Our Lady of the Lake University.

Brenda Arteaga is the Multilingual Director for Tomball ISD. Dr. Arteaga is a 26-year veteran educator who most recently served as Superintendent of Schools and Assistant Superintendent for Academics and Operations at Southwest Schools in Houston after serving 18 years in a variety of roles in Houston ISD, including principal, teacher, and dual language coordinator. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from University of Houston Central with specialties in Interdisciplinary Studies and an emphasis in Reading and Spanish. She holds certifications in bilingual/ESL, reading, Spanish, and self-contained classrooms. She gained her Master’s degree from St. Thomas University and a Doctorate in professional learning from the University of Houston.
